So, blogging has fallen by the wayside in the last month or so. I was in Milwaukee all last weekend, my dad was visiting the last few days, work has been extra busy, and sometimes, I dunno, I just don’t feel like sitting down and writing here. But I have been online in other places recently, so I wanted to share those:
A few weeks ago, I wrote a column for the Useless Critic, a pop culture criticism blog that my friend from college, Britt Kemp, has been running since 2009. Since my own writing habit since college has been to scrap my current blog and start a brand new one every few years, I am mightily impressed by her dedication. Anyway, my piece is here, and I’m pretty proud of it.
Also, I went to a rally to protest our current President about a month ago. It was my first time taking a sign to a protest, and two reporters came over and chatted with me about why I was there that day. Then, of all things, the guy from USA Today that I talked to put me in his article for the next day’s paper. Here’s a link to the full story.
Because I am my own mom, I bought myself a physical copy of the paper, cut out the story printed there (which includes a block quote from yours truly!!! In which I am identified as “Ursula Wheeler, Chicago protester”!!!), framed it, and hung it on my wall.
That’s all for now. I’m beat.
